With yesterday’s temperatures reaching 90 degrees and today’s hitting at least 80, we’re dreaming about a summer that involves some serious pool time. Ever since we moved from the suburbs to the city, we’ve marveled at the serious lack of swimming pools in New York City. You’d think that a city that becomes absolutely unbearably stifling come summertime would have pools a plenty – but on the flip side, unless you’re heading to The Hamptons or the member of an exclusive club, it’s quite hard to find a pool in Manhattan.
Which is why, if you ask us, it’s important to hunt for a new home that has a pool. Private pools may be de rigeur in the ‘burbs, but here in NYC, you’ll be sharing with 100-400 of your closest fellow city denizens if you want to find a public swimming pool. Unless, of course, you’re smart, and put a swimming pool on your list of “must haves” during your search for a new condo. We’ve compiled a list of five buildings in the Financial District that come with gorgeous residents-only swimming pools. No loud children, no dirty water - just pure aqua bliss, sunshine or no sunshine, heat wave or no heat wave. It doesn’t get better than that.
1) 2o Pine The Collection: if the gorgeous pool isn’t enough to sell you, then the Armani Casa-designed interiors at 20 Pine The Collection should do the trick.
2) 75 Wall Street: Located just a stone’s throw from the South Street Seaport, 75 Wall Street is the largest residential building south of Canal Street.
3) District: The upscale fitness center at District offers an indoor lap pool, 16 jet spa jaccuzi, cold plunge, steam bath and sauna as well as a state-of-the-art fitness center and exercise room.
4) William Beaver House: If the lap pool at William Beaver doesn’t sway you, the fact that the building also boasts an outdoor hot tub, rainforest shower, sauna and steam room should be enough to convince even the most hesitant.
5) Downtown by Starck: Don’t be fooled – Downtown by Starck’s outdoor rooftop reflecting pool might be beautiful, but it’s not the place to swim. That’ll be done indoors, in the gorgeous and oversized lap pool.
