Big Sale For The Superior Ink Penthouse

According to Curbed NY the Superior Ink, a condo building that I have blogged about in the past, has recently sold it’s penthouse for a total of $31.5 million. That’s a lot of money, but hey if you have it, spend it.
The new proud owner is Mark Shuttleworth, a British and South African entrepreneur that is famous for paying $20 million to be sent up to space. He is the world’s second space tourist (An interesting thing to be know for). He apparently already owns a building in the unit …

Twenty-Something’s Adaptation To New York Prices

The New York Times recently reported that twenty-somethings moving to New York for the first few years are doing everything they can do to survive in this expensive city during this horrible economic slump. Being a twenty-something myself, going on my fourth year in the big apple, I understand all these baby New Yorker woes.
Living in a city where you have to start out residing in a windowless box, sleeping on a twin bed with your feet hanging off one end is not the ideal situation for any young adult …

Building Of The Week: One Jackson Square

couch 002

I had the pleasure last week of having drinks downtown at the Norwood with some co-workers. I couldn’t help but seeing this amazing glowing penthouse easily viewed from looking outside the Norwood’s front window. After drinks, on my way to the subway (West 14th Street and 8th Avenue, L Train) I swung over to One Jackson Square to get a better look. Check out the amazing outside:

The curvaceous glass penthouse is selling for an outstanding$21.75 million. With this price tag you get 4-bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, your own outdoor swimming pool, wood …

Do You Want To Live Next To A Supermodel?

Who wouldn’t want to live next door from a supermodel. It’s coolness by association. The New York Observer recently wrote an article about Russian supermodel Irina Shayk purchasing a condo a the extremely sleek building, 166 Perry Street.
From what I see the building looks like you are living in a glass house. The Observer describes Ms. Shayks condo as 2,500 square feet, with beautiful 12 foot ceilings and glass pocket doors. All of this beautiful design for only $1.963 million. Sounds like the perfect place to entertain with her soccer …

The Modern New York City Town House Part II

This is a continuation blog from my previous blog “The Modern New York City Town House”. I am continuing my photo tour of the Modern New York Town House I completed this weekend based on The New York Times article. I just finished checking out 385 West 12th Street and I made my way to 400 West 12th Street, which is the official address to Superior Ink. This is a condo/town house building that flanks the end of Bethune and West 12th Street.

The building faces the Hudson River and the …

The Modern New York City Town House Part I

After reading this weekend in The New York Times Real Estate section about the emergence of the modern town house, I can’t help to recall my last post on 40 Bond Street. It seems that modern builders and architects are taking the idea of the classic New York town house and bringing it to the 21st Century. These new and improved town houses have the same concierge services and amenities as the condos located in the same building. It is a life style with the independence of a old school …

The Long Lost Manhattan Neighborhood: Hudson Square

Have you ever heard of the area in New York called Hudson Square? It seems weird that this small Manhattan neighborhood goes unnoticed after being surrounded by popular neighborhoods like the West Village, Soho, and Tribeca. I like to call it the long lost Manhattan Neighborhood.
According to NYC.com, Hudson Square owes it’s development to the Trinity Church that was established as early as 1697. Queen Anne of England gave this land to the church, which eventually developed into Hudson Square over the years. A couple centuries later to 2010, the …
