Could 2012 End of World Predictions Affect Housing Market?

You would think that our Social Media Coordinator in DC, Simon Landau, would be in a more positive mood since his dreadful Orioles began the season tied for first place in the AL East… (only to lose their first two games and take their rightful position at the bottom of the division…) but he brings us an interesting outlook on the real estate market with the impending end of the world in 2012…..

From Simon…

Now, let me first preface this blog post with saying that I am not crazy, nor am I superstitious.  So, if at any point while reading this article you think that I’m a complete kook, I’m not.

Or maybe I’m in denial…but who’s counting?

It was some time a few weeks ago that I was flicking through the channels, sifting through the reality shows and bad sitcoms, to find some shred of interesting television, when I came across a special on Nostradamus’ 2012 prediction.  Apparently in my book, this qualified as “interesting television”, which clearly speaks volumes about what else was on that night.

For those of you who have been living under a rock, the ancient oracle Nostradamus predicted that December 21, 2012 will be Armageddon.  The statement, coupled with the fact that the soothsayer-esque Mayan civilization’s calendar ends in December 2012, has led many to believe the end is near.

Clearly, the 2012 prediction will have many effects on societies throughout the world in the time leading up to Doomsday.  You can bet on some people creating bomb-shelter-like safehouses, while others are sure to load up on water and packaged goods.

But will it have any effect on the housing market?

I know what you’re thinking:

“Did he really just ask that?”

Yes I did.

“He wasn’t being serious though, was he?”

Well…not completely?

“This guy’s a complete nutcase.”

No you can’t say that!  That’s why I wrote the intro the way I did!

But before you completely eat me alive, take a moment and think about it:  While a majority of the population won’t believe that 2012 will be the end of man, what about the minority that does think the world is ending?

Maybe they’ll try to “live the rest of life to the fullest” and buy the New York City loft they have always wanted.

Maybe none of them will buy a new unit, thinking it would be a waste.  Ya know, since they’d only get to enjoy it for a short time before vanishing into the atmosphere.

Or perhaps the housing market will stay the exact same, life will not cease, and on December 22nd, 2012, we at CondoDomain will still be selling fantastic NY Condominiums and giving thousands of dollars back to customers.

Whether you are a 2012 believer, or if you found this blog post to be a complete waste of time because you think it’s a bunch of bologna, when you buy a NY Condo with CondoDomain you save THOUSANDS of dollars.

So contact one of our agents for a tour of the property of your choice.

Oh, and try to do it before December 21, 2012 just for good measure.
