Feature Building Of The Week: 40 Bond Street

In my opinion 40 Bond Street is one of the coolest designed buildings I have seen in New York. With it’s aluminum gate and wall of coke bottle green glass that gets everyone’s attention as they walk on by. Everyone has their own opinions on the design of the facade, readers what do you think?

This residential marvel is one of Ian Schrager’s projects. He was able to hire the Pritzker Prize winning Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron to come up with their first residential building in America. I would say they did a great job. The structure is a combination of apartments on the upper floors and Townhouses secured by the aluminum gates on the ground floor, which is something that hasn’t been seen in Manhattan in a long time.

It is located on a really nice block in Noho with some classy restaurants and other luxury condos. It also comes with a 24 hour concierge service that comes from the Gramercy Park Hotel. This is probably due to the fact that the hotel is another one of Mr. Schrager’s projects in New York.

Let’s check out a StreetEasy listing of an apartment that can be yours:
