Matt Damon house hunting on Central Park West
Recently, sources reported that Matt Damon and his wife Luciana were house hunting up and down the prestigious Fifth Avenue, but new reports place them a bit further west – Central Park West, to be exact. Could this be because they “don’t have a prayer” at getting into the co-ops on Fifth Avenue, which tend to reject celebrities and all the hullaballo that surrounds them. Informants say Damon, who is a Boston boy through and through but owns a loft on Lafayette Street, has been quietly checking out sprawling full floor homes on the Upper West Side, but he hasn’t found anything big enough yet. Right, because a home in The Majestic (where Conan O’Brien owns a penthouse) just doesn’t cut it. For the record, homes at The Majestic are pretty spectacular. Located on Central Park West in Lincoln Square, The Majestic is a magnificent art-deco building that was built in 1929. It went co-op in 1995, and offers its residents full service with elevator and doormen. The Majestic boasts a staff of 50 workers, including a live in superintendent. Amenities  include a gym, a bike room, a children’s playroom, a rooftop solarium and a deck. Inside, the pre-war homes offer sensational views, central air conditioning, washer dryer hookups, modern renovations, and high style finishes.
Perhaps Damon should consider the famous Dakota, where John Lennon was shot and where Bono and many other celebs currently lay their heads. He’ll certainly get the park views he’s looking for there. What else would he get? Located on the Upper West Side in Manhattan and built in 1884 by architect Henry J. Hardenbergh, the 93-unit Dakota features homes ranging from three to ten rooms. Many of the apartments have been reconfigured from their original layout to accommodate larger residents. One of the most outstanding architectural landmarks on the Upper West Side, the Dakota features ornate finials, gothic details, and a manned sentry in front entrance with oil-burning lamps.
None of the units at The Dakota are alike, each is unique in layout and design details. Some of the rooms are as long as 50 feet, while ceilings in many apartments each up to 14 feet high. Floors in The Dakota are covering in the most expensive woods available, including mahogany, oak and cherry. As one of the most luxurious properties in New York, The Dakota offers its residents the top of the line in privacy and service.
Sounds perfect for a celebrity, no?
