Former boy bander Lance Bass is saying bye bye bye to his old home and putting down new roots at the Chelsea Mercantile. According to an article in the New York Times, the N’Sync star also looked at a few other apartments, including one at 456 West 19th Street before settling on an his Chelsea abode.
“He loved the apartment,” said Robby Browne, a senior vice president of the Corcoran Group, who was Mr. Bass’s broker. “And he especially loved the common charges.”

The common charges noted above are, apparently, among the lowest in the city of New York. According to Mr. Browne, this is what pushed Bass to sign the contract. What, the residuals from his days as a highly coiffed teen star aren’t paying the bills anymore? You’d think anyone who was famous in the nineties heyday would have plenty of cash to throw around, but apparently that’s not the case. Bass purchased a 1,300 square foot one bedroom apartment for $1.495 million. His famous neighbors will include fashion designer Jay Godfrey and former Sex and the City and current Desperate Housewives star Kyle Maclachlan. How soon until we see Bass rollerblading down Eighth Avenue? That day can’t come soon enough, if you ask us!
Bass is sure to eat healthily; there’s a Whole Foods store in the retail space of his building. Wonder if he’s a cook…Notably, Bass didn’t look in Tribeca, where his fellow N’Sync-er Justin Timberlake lives. In fact, it seems he only looked in Chelsea. What, the stroller moms and cobblestoned streets of lower Manhattan didn’t appeal to him? Perhaps it’s the fact that he and Timberlake have always had some bad blood, what with them being the two blondies of the band.
