Out and About in NYC… The Time Warner Center

This is the time of year that makes me happy to be a New Yorker.  The combination of sunshine and cool breeze equals perfection, and there’s nothing better than venturing outside to soak it in.  Today I headed to the Time Warner Center located in Columbus Circle for a fantastic setting for people-watching.

A huge, mixed-use, twin towered monstrosity constructed of glass, the Time Warner Center was completed in 2004, and consists of retail space, offices that include the headquarters of Time Warner, CNN TV studios, and 225 condominium apartments. Designed by David Childs of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, the Time Warner Center was the cornerstone of the rebuilding of the Columbus Circle area.

This afternoon did not disappoint.  I spent a few minutes engrossed in a bluesy-sweet song sung by a young girl with dark hair.  She noticed me enjoying her music and smiled a few times for the camera.  A gentleman in a suit was sprawled across the base of the statue in the middle of Columbus Circle… I have to admit, I was momentarily tempted to join him.  A cute elderly couple took turns reading aloud to each other about the historical importance of the area.  Several people were scarfing down takeout that they’d picked up either from the street vendors or from Whole Foods, located in the basement of the Time Warner Center.

Consisting of two towers with a bridge-like structure connecting them, the Time Warner Center (also known as 1 Central Park) is one of the most desirable condominium residences in New York City.
