Rachel Ashwell's Malibu Home

Rachel Ashwell, purveyor of all things shabby and all things chic (her namesake line fell apart and filed for bankruptcy last year; her diffusion line for Target, Shabby Shabby Chic, still exists) has put her 1,783 square foot Malibu home up for sale for the price of $4.4 million. The beautifully remodeled space, while not impressive on the outside, features limestone flooring, a brick patio with a spa, and mountain views. It’s also surrounded by gorgeous gardens and just steps away from a shared beach access lot with a deck. The interiors, not surprisingly, are dressed in Ashwell’s signature white shabby chic style, and look quite cozy and calm.

From the looks of the picture above, Ashwell’s already moved out. She has another residence in Los Angeles, so it’s likely that with the bankruptcy filings, she figured two homes was a bit excessive. Ashwell’s signature line may have gone out of business for the time being (with hopes of starting back up, mind you), but for $4.4 million, all you West Coasters could make Rachel’s shabby chic home your own. Would you paint the walls? Rachel currently has things all white – and by all white, we mean ALL WHITE. There is no color in this home, save for the lightest of pinks (and that might just be the lighting of the photography) in the guest bedroom rug. White walls, white kitchen cabinets, white furniture (obviously) – Rachel believes in chic crisp [lack of] color and Victorian design sentiments.
