To celebrate and advertise the return of Boardwalk Empire to HBO on September 25th, the company did an interesting advertising campaign. They paid the MTA to bring out a vintage train from the 1920s and run it along the Express 2/3 track on the west side of Manhattan throughout the month of September on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6PM.
Straphangers will ride in style if they catch this beautiful and immaculate train–I’m sure going to try to get on one. I’ve never seen the series, but this definitely makes me want to watch it (so I guess it’s a pretty successful campaign). Gothamist is also reporting that people from HBO will be at Times Square and 72nd stations to hand out free Metrocards (I doubt they’ll be vintage cards, alas). Hopefully the weather will cool down a bit more, since I suspect these won’t have air conditioning.
